July ushered in a stalled heat dome that relentlessly hovered over Mississippi. The first weeks of July were hot days that, in a way, was atypical for Southern Mississippi. Gusts from the Gulf Stream wrapped lightly around the coastal waters.

While the breezes blew the seagulls and the twilight into the arms of the evening.

And so we drove happily home, away from the day that was, and will never be again. But others will surely follow – better still. Even so, we will always remember the last time we saw The Mississippi Gulf Coast.
